About Us

Our History

American Pest Management Inc. was founded by Avtar and Sue Sachdeva in 1979. Avtar and Sue are both graduates of Kansas State University. Avtar has worked in two phases of the pest control industry.  He started in 1957 working for the Food Corporation of India where he worked his way up to an educator for grain fumigation. Avtar started working for a pest control company in Manhattan after earning his Master’s Degree in Biology and decided that pest control was the career for him. 

About a year after graduating, Avtar placed a yellow page ad in the phone book and American Pest Management Inc. was in business. American Pest Management obtained Kansas State University as its first state contract in its first few months of business. American Pest Management Inc. still serves several of the clients that were signed during Avtar’s first year of business. 

Avtar and Sue retired in 1998 and turned daily business operations over to their son and daughter-in-law Ravi and Elaine Sachdeva. Ravi is also a graduate of Kanasas State University and a Board Certified Entomologist. Today American Pest Management Inc. performs more than 30,000 services per year in North East Kansas with offices in Manhattan and Olathe, Kansas.
